If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required. There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below
In order to ensure the most up to date comprehensive and high quality advice is available, Belvoir Health Group will only provide services if patients have accessed MASTA or www.fitfortravel.nhs.uk as we feel these provide the best authoritative sources of detailed information.
Fit For Travel: please access the site in advance of making your appointment and print information relevant to the areas to which you will be travelling. Please bring this information with you to your appointment.
MASTA: Patients must note that MASTA IS A PREMIUM RATE TELEPHONE SERVICE 0906 8224100. If you require a comprehensive service, prior to your appointment you will need to contact MASTA for an up to date travel pack to bring to your appointment.
It is important to obtain your MASTA pack and make an initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel. Some of these vaccines may have to be ordered and therefore you may need a second appointment which needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work. If your travel is booked at short notice or is unexpected and you are unable to give us a minimum of 4 weeks notice, we may be unable to offer you travel health advice.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
Very general travel advice and some limited vaccinations (typhoid, Polio, Diptheria, Tetanus and Hepatitis A) are available as part of NHS services at Belvoir Health Group at no charge. Belvoir Health Group are also able to provide private prescriptions for anti-malarial prophylaxis at a charge.
Comprehensive specific destination travel advice, vaccines other than already stated above and anti-malarial prophylaxis are NOT part of NHS services, but can be obtained from a variety of providers but will incur a charge e.g.
